METLEN Energy and Metals in Chile joins the UN Global Compact

The company commits to annually reporting progress on the institution's 10 principles and the 17 sustainable development objectives, in addition to participating in initiatives that promote the implementation of these standards.

METLEN Energy and Metals reported, in Chile, its adhesion to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, an international platform that promotes sustainable development, focusing on 10 principles on human rights, workplace relations, the environment and anti-corruption measures. In this way, the Greek energy company, with operations in the Chilean regions of Arica and Parinacota, Antofagasta and Coquimbo, joins the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, in which more than 17 thousand companies from 160 countries participate.

As companies worldwide navigate a new business era where sustainability information gains increasing economic importance globally, METLEN remains committed to enhancing the sustainable development of its operations and the solutions offered to its customers. By joining the UN Global Compact, METLEN commits to upholding these widely accepted principles while contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

METLEN’s sustainable development strategy fully aligns with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the UN SDGs, supporting the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change. Currently, in Chile, 200 companies participate in the Global Compact alliance, including Albemarle, Acciona, SQM, Colbún, Scotiabank, Cencosud, Latam Airlines, among others.
