METLEN Energy & Metals has been awarded three solar PV projects in Spain totaling 160 MWp for Cero Generation in the municipality of Palencia in Castille-Leon. The scope includes the integrated development and construction of medium-voltage underground lines connecting each switching station with the existing substation, with a length of approximately 18 km and performance of two years of operation and maintenance (O&M) services.
All projects (Grijota III, IV and V) are expected to deliver more than 307 GWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to powering close to 95,000 homes and avoiding over 110,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions and deliver biodiversity net gains at each project site. Over 150 people will be involved in constructing the solar projects, leading to the creation of local jobs during the construction phase.
The selection of METLEN for those projects consolidates the company’s position into the Spanish market as a leader in providing competitive solar solutions for the Iberian industry, which will be added on the approx. 700 MW already commissioned capacity of solar PV plants in Spain, which by 2025 the expected rate is going to be more than 1 GW.
Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director, M Renewables – METLEN Energy & Metals, stated: “We are excited to partner with Cero Generation in this very important project. METLEN Energy & Metals is a global contractor of complex, large-scale solar energy projects and energy storage projects, providing reliable solutions across the project development spectrum, from standalone projects to complex hybrid systems. The company is the preferred constructor for the photovoltaic investments of some of the most well-known institutional investors / international companies in the field of solar energy and is glad to cooperate with Cero Generation continuing its successful route in the Iberian Peninsula, contributing to the environmental goals that have been set.”
Cero Generation, a leading IPP, specialised in developing, constructing and operating solar energy and battery storage projects, accelerating the delivery of a net-zero future across Europe, is added to METLEN’s esteemed partners in Spain, including Ellomay, Nexwell, Sonnedix and Aquila.
METLEN proceeds with its internationalization strategy process, capitalizing its experience on creating added value in local markets across the world
